I blog about - my collegues in the area blog about it - It's REAL! Raleigh and it's dreamy suburbs like Cary, Wake Forest, and others have been consistently forging ahead! City and Town Planners have been hard at work making the synergy known as RTP or Raleigh-Durham or The Triangle thrive with the least amount of disrusption to it's residents.
Guess what? It has worked! Raleigh-Cary has been named the Fastest Growing Metro in the US.
Some superb points from the WRAL article are:
- "The combined population of North Carolina's capital city and its family-friendly suburb increased to 1.1 million people between July 2007 and July 2008, a 4.3 percent jump, according to the U.S. Census Bureau data"
- "attribute the growth to top hospitals, universities and Research Triangle Park, a sprawling business complex with more than 170 research and development companies and more than 50,000 employees."
-
"People want to be in North Carolina because of the climate," she said, adding that the region offers abundant education and economic opportunities. "From there, they want to choose a community like Cary. It's safe, it's attractive, it's diverse."
And did you know that 11 of the top 100 Fastest Growing Metros in the US were in North Carolina? Pretty strong! Come see what we have!

Leesa, What wonderful statistics for your city and state. I will have to visit soon!
I really do need to come visit!
Barb - it really is a terrific place to live!
OMG you really don't miss much do you... You are right on top of things Leesa - i thought of you when i saw this in the paper today. We are # 26 - not too hard to take...
Leesa, we live in a wonderful place! Home prices are affordable, taxes are low, the economy has not been hit as hard as much of the rest of the country......and the weather's great!!!
It's no wonder we're proud to call this little patch of America......home!
My parents moved to Hendersonville over 20 years ago and love the area. When we visit I wounder why I haven't followed them.
Leesa North Carolina has much to offer, but be careful - you might become as congested as we are in Virginia, Karen
Leesa how wonderful. I love to drive through North Carolina when I go to Indiana
Leesa, I read a similar report about your area growing so fast. It must be beautiful and affordable for some many to make Raleigh=Cary their new home.
Hi Leesa,
I know NC is a fast growing state!! However, like Karen said, watch out, it may become too populated and crowded. That wouldn't be good. : (
Hi Leesa,
I had no idea. I have driven through once, always wanted to stop and visit. Heard great things.
cristal - really wish you would!
kathy - NO - it is nothing to sneeze about being on the list regardless of where you are. Wilmington is an incredible place!
craig - i think you summed it up beautifully!
terry - you should! there are beaches, mountains and everything in between - gorgeous state!
karen - thanks for the warning - I have seen areas of NC that are congested and, quite honestly, miserable. However, I have to proclaim that the Raleigh area has some of the BEST City Planners that I have EVER seen! They have always been one step ahead!
marie - NEXT time make a call and we'll hook up!
carole - it is VERY affordable compared with other parts of the country - and GORGEOUS!
tony - like I had mentioned to karen - there are indeed places in NC that are more congested - Raleigh though? no worries
cindy - you should make this a stopping point next time - i'd love to show you around!
