Doris Kearns Goodwin, one of the most acclaimed historians of our time AND Pulitzer Prize winner, has developed a list of the 10 Qualities of a President. While these points may be something to ponder for a Presidential Canidiate I find them quite applicable to ANY leader! Can you find yourself among these qualities?
- The Courage To Stay Strong
- Self-Confidence
- An Ability To Learn From Errors
- A Willingness To Change
- Emotional Intelligence
- Self Control
- A Popular Touch
- A Moral Compass
- A Capacity To Relax
- A Gift For Inspiring Others
Whether you are a presidential candidate or not, this list proves to be the foundation by which one should aspire. I firmly believe that if each of these points are addressed within our own lives we will find ourselves in a much better position. A better position within our businesses, our relationships and with ourselves!
Start a plan today! Address each of these qualities within yourself and discover how you can improve on them, incorporate them into your life and develop habits of excellence!

I was with you up until number 6!!! Dang it!!! Well, I guess I'll just keep on trying!!! Great Blog Leesa, thanks.
Lewis - Too funny! I am sure that you can muster even a LITTLE self-control!
Leesa, I am still working on 5 & 9. I need to develop a much thicker skin, but I have also realized that I have faced some Presidential sized critics. And I just need to relax when they start-up. Thanks for the reminder of these points, they will prove useful in November, too.
Leesa,
#9 is the killer, I don't know if it is the capacity I lack or the time!
Lessa, I'd say it fits and that those are the basics of what we do. I just wish it was how our president conducted himself....sorry....I promised myself no more potlitical statements starting today! I agree with you Leesa...it is what we aspire to that sets in motion what we achieve.
Leesa for President!!!!!!!!! Seriously!
Leesa - I like this list. I think I might need to run for public office based on this.
Leesa, This is a great list to judge any leader with. Jason based on your record here on AR you should win any election.
Leesa- Now that is a TO DO LIST:)...Thanks for the inspiration. This post is going on my wall:)
Leesa - I just had a funny experience. I saw your new picture on the dashboard, and I thought someone else had plagiarized your post!
Jane - They are some that are difficult but the list certainly gives a cause to pause.
Joshua - #9 is THE hardest for Type A's - that's for sure!
Jeanean - it is what we aspire to that sets in motion what we achieve I LOVE THAT!
Cristal - That's one job I would NEVER want! You are too funny!
Jason - Of all people - you could do it! And for your second comment? Thanks for having my back!
Paddy - This is a great list - beautiful and worthy characteristics
Cherimie - I printed it, too - great reminders every morning for when we start the day!
Leesa - That's a great list! I definitely need to work on some of those... :)
HI LEEZA!
Way cool picture! It is totally different from the last one. Oh, your post is great too!!
Debi - Can you imagine if EVERYONE tried to live up to the list???
Yvette - Thanks - you can always count on me for something different.
Leesa, excellent list. I think we can all self evaluate with this list and see where we fall short.
I think I probably have too many issues that would prevent me from being elected, unfortunately. If I spot anyone ripping off your post, I will certainly let you know!
Leesa, Great new photo! You have been busy, today! Thanks again for the Post!
A great list I hope everyone used to measure all the candidates on all levels this year!
I'll settle for the moral compass as the nr. 1 item.
