Wake Forest, NC Calendar of Events - July 21 - 27, 2008

Wow - where has this summer gone?  I see school supplies galore in the stores, the latest school fashions are up in most stores and I have actually heard the whines of bored kids ready to go back to school!  I can't believe we are approaching the end of summer - unbelievable!

This week in Wake Forest proves to be a little more on the conservative side - most families are getting in that last hurrah before getting serious about going back to school.  Here are a few events that will keep you entertained and happy as the mid-point of your summer has now passed.

From the Town of Wake Forest website:

Festival Friday
Friday, July 25; 6:00 p.m.
Festival Park, S. White Street

Festival Friday is scheduled to be held each Friday from June 6 through October 17 on the grounds of Festival Park. In case of rain, the festivities will move indoors. Admission is $3. A portion of the proceeds goes to the Graham Johnson Cultural Arts Endowment. The point of Festival Friday is to provide a venue every Friday night for local teens to gather in a safe, fun environment and encourage local artists to show off their skills. Prizes will be awarded each week to select Festival Friday performers. Area residents are encouraged to bring your lounge chairs, blankets and enjoy. For more information, contact Mark Skinner at markjr54@yahoo.com.

Community Outdoor Movie Night - August Rush
Friday, July 25; 8:00 p.m.
Stephenson Center of Wake Forest Baptist Church, 12120 Wake Union Church Road (see directions below)
Please join us for an evening of fun for the entire family. We have planned Outdoor Movie Nights for several dates throughout the summer. We would love to have you and your family come out and join us for this FREE event. Bring a blanket or lawn chair and sit back, relax, and enjoy a movie on the BIG screen. We will provide the drinks and the popcorn. All that you have to do is enjoy this time of fellowship with family and friends. For information or questions, please contact Rev. Mark Tolley, Minister of Outreach, at (919) 556-5141 or visit us on the web at www.wakeforestbaptistchurch.org. DIRECTIONS: From Wake Forest Baptist Church, take Highway 98 toward Durham and shortly after you pass under US 1 (Capital Blvd.) and go past the Shell station/Jiffy Lube, turn right onto Wake Union Church Road at the Animal Hospital. The property is just ahead on your right after you pass the Animal Hospital entrance.

Wake Forest Farmers' Market
Saturday, July 26; 8:00 a.m. - Noon
Downtown Wake Forest - Municipal Parking Lot
The market offers fresh produce, pasture-raised beef, poultry and pork, free-range eggs, fresh and dried herbs, honey, jams and preserves, plus a whole lot more. The Farmers' Market is open Saturday mornings from 8 a.m. until noon through November 22. For more information, visit. www.wakeforestmarket.org.

Enjoy the old-fashioned summer days and nights in My Back Yard....

You are right about the summer quickly going by Leesa... Pretty soon the kids will be back in school and the first signs of fall will be upon us. But... We still have plenty of time left to enjoy what is left of summer...

Oh the local market...that is my favorite thing to do in the summer and I missed it yesterday.  I'll have to swing by mid week for the other one.

That Plaxo thing was funny.  I have NO idea what is going on.  All these people suddenly started joining and I got 10 invites in a day.  I think someone spoke about it at a conference probably.

Sell lots of homes today.  from, one of your fans ;-)
