The 4th of July celebration is Wake Forest is spectacular event! Between the bands, the parachute team, the
food and games there is SO MUCH for all ages to enjoy. Fireworks? You Bet! Wake Forest has one of the BEST displays of fireworks I have EVER seen.
The fun starts on Thursday, July 3rd at Trentini Stadium! Gates open at 5:30pm which gives you plenty of time to seek out your "best" spot. Don't worry - all seating is prime. Admission is $5.00 per person and children under 6 are free. A few of the highlights include:
- The Band of Oz - This band is incredible! One of the southeast's BEST beach music bands AND a 1997 Beach Music Hall of Fame Inductee!
- Friendship Chapel Choir
- Bull City Garage Band
- Don Carrington's Parachute Team. I just HAVE to mention here again - my tandem partner is part of this team. You didn't know I LOVE jumping out of planes? Well, check it out here! Wake Forest and Skydiving? Yep, like chips and salsa, peanut butter and jelly....... (there is sound!)
- 20 minutes of the most incredible fireworks you will see!
Then, on July 4th it just gets even better!
- Children's Parade along North Main Street (Line up starts at 10am)
Then, starting at 11am Holding Park continues on with the festivitites! Games, food, watermelon seed spitting contests, sack races, tug-o-war and so much more! It is a wonderful event that you just won't want to miss!

Leesa...
This sounds like fun. I am embarrassed to tell you that my daughter got her Master's degree at WF but I have never been there ...yet! But I just might head up that way in the near future, maybe for a fun event like this!
Eleanor - Why yes I do have a birthday this week! I was sure to post it publicly on the Calendar of Events for the week - you know, hoping to elicit a few Happy Birthday's from my Active Rain friends! ;)
Richard - While I would love to see you - don't come here thinking you are going to see the college where you daughter got her masters. The college moved many, many years ago! You can read about it here - Wake Forest vs. Wake Forest - Would the REAL Wake Forest please step forward? or here Wake Forest - The Birth of a Great University.......
Leesa --- HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! If my math is correct, that makes you about.....22, right? :-)
Leesa - sounds like a good time for all. As for the skydiving, well, that's a long story.
Wow! Sounds like a great time Leesa! Wish I could be there!
Happy birthday Leesa, whichever day that is this week. You are what 21 now? : ) These 4th of July celebrations are great. Hope you have fun at whichever one you go to.
It sounds alot like the St. Louis celebration at the Arch. This year I don't believe we're having one, though. The flood waters are too high. Take care! :)
Clint - THANKS! I like your number!!!
Mike - You have a skydiving story to share? Or, are you too scared????
Cristal - Bring it! You are welcome in my home ANYTIME!
Gary - Officially - Sunday - at least that is when I celebrate it. Would you believe that no one on the planet knows what day I was born!?!? Seriously! As for 4th celebrations? We'll be at all of them.
Debi - I am so sorry to hear that about the Arch celebrations being cancelled. I feel for you guys, I really do and if I could be there to help I would be!
Leesa - You're shameless LOL no wonder I like you. 22 my butt, you've got to be at least 31. I'm so.....looking forward to meeting you.
Sounds like a lot of fun, Leesa. I hear you have a birthday coming up. Hope it's a blast. Happy Birthday!
Hello Leesa,
Did you say you like to jump out of airplanes? A perfectly good airplane? One that doesn't have any mechanical problems? Ones that still have the wings attached? Ones that have the landing gear fastened securly? OH my you be one brave lady.
Your 4th of July Festival looks to be really nice and a fun filled event.
