Well, I can to you that it is a HUGE annual charity event! Not only is there the Dance Marathon but a Laser Show and American Fun Fair! This charity event is totally organized by the Social-Organization and Service Club which is chaired by Mike Meyer. Mike Meyer is a sixth grade counselor at WFRMS and his role goes way beyond that of counselor. Mike Meyer is an amazing teacher, counselor, friend and human being. He received the 2004 Franklin County Middle School Innovative Educator of the Year award after he co-founded a bereavement group for students and initiating a stress management training session after the unfortunate suicide of a student. In addition, last year he received the John Jackson Knox Jr. Middle School Award which is handed out by the NC School Counselor Association. Mike's role in the school extends beyond class hours - he strives to educate students about personal responsibility and helps them to understand the importance of making a positive difference in their communities. But, this isn't about Mike......
The Annual Wake Forest Rolesville Middle School Dance Marathon raises money for Duke Children's Miracle Network and The North Carolina Children's Hospital. Last year they raised nearly $14,000! The kids at WFRMS are an integral part of the event. They collaborate on the business letter that is sent out, they get out in their communities to raise awareness for the event, learn how to manage the budget, and help make decisions on what to purchase for the event.
Last year was a HUGE success! Due to the overwhelming response last year the event this year will be split into two dates! On May 9th there will be the Dance Marathon with a theme of "Blast From The Past". Each hour of the Dance Marathon will represent a different decade in American Music. The 60s, 70s, 80s, 90's and today's music will be going well into the night. Personally, I would like to see Mike do the "robot" but that's another post for when I have pictures! Then, on May 27th the American Fun Fair starts the festivities for the evening with games, food, dunk tanks, etc. That is followed by the Laser Show which was DJ'd last year by one of Raleigh's finest DJs. Huge event loaded with fun for any age!!!
These kids really work their hearts out getting this event together and they really need our help. As I type this I have a picture beside my laptop of all the kids that make up the Wake Forest-Rolesville Middle School-Organization and Service Club - a great looking bunch of kids and undoubtedly some of our future leaders! The kids are seeking local businesses to help sponsor the event and they would love your help. There are many sponsor levels available and every little bit gets these kids one step closer to their goal and more money for Duke Children's Miracle Network and The North Carolina Children's Hospital.
For more information on this truly fun-filled event and the opportunities for sponsorship you can send me an email or give me a call and I'll get you through to Mike.
This is for all of you, kids.......Cayleigh, Donna, Miranda, Lessie, Maggie, Austin, Caitlyn, Kevin, Gil, Alexis, Dougie, Veronica, Sarah, Brianne, Dalia, Asya, Corey, Janielle, and Mariam - YOU GUYS ROCK and you make me very, very proud! For those of you that I may have overlooked just shoot me an email and I will get your name on here - You DESERVE it!
Amazing things happen in My Back Yard....

Leesa,
Great post, Jill and I have supported it every year!
Thanks,

Leesa this post alone would make me choose you as my Realtor. Fantastic. And don't forget to write the post about Mike because he is a true inspiration.
Thank you!
