In 2009 Wake Forest will officially turn 100 years old! This is going to be one heck of a party and you ALL are
invited!!!
Every party has to have a theme, right? Well, the town has come up with a remarkable theme that carries the vision for this town well into the future......."Honor the Past, Celebrate the Present, Embrace the Future."
Plans started developing back in 2006 for the celebration that will start on New Year's Eve 2008. To get the year long party started Wake Forest will begin with "First Light Wake Forest". It will be OUR version of the festivities in New York, Los Angeles and other parts of the country. This will be the first year for our New Year's Eve celebration and given the support of the town and surrounding communities for past events I am confident that this will last for years to come.
Once the festivities have commenced on New Year's Eve 2008 the fun and celebration just keeps on going with "The Party of The Century" which will last for the rest of 2009. A few of the highlights for next year are:
-
Party of the Century
February 20, 2009
Wake Forest's second centennial celebration event is already being billed as the "Party of the Century!" Come celebrate the town's birthday at the Ledford Center located on the campus of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. This once-in-a-lifetime party will include music, food, children's activities, and of course - birthday cake! Bring your whole family and help us celebrate the birth of our historic town. -
Six Sundays in Spring Centennial Concert
April 19, 2009
Come celebrate Wake Forest's Centennial at Joyner Park as local artists perform a musical tribute to the last 100 years. Music from every decade will guarantee special memories for each member of your family! -
Fourth of July Centennial Celebration
July 3 & 4, 2009
Celebrate the Fourth of July with a Centennial flair - a splash of 100 years ago to the most fantastic modern day fireworks anywhere around! Take a nostalgic trip back in time with the Children's Walking Parade on historic North Main Street, then Games & Kids' Crafts of yesteryear in Holding Park. -
Town of Wake Forest Christmas Gala
December 5, 2009
We will bring this historic year to a close in style with a Christmas gala to celebrate the growth and prosperity of our town. The Christmas Gala will include food, music, and plenty of fun! More information about the Christmas Gala will be provided at a later date.
While the Town of Wake Forest has hired some of the BEST event planners and coordinators they are asking for volunteers from the community to help make this happen! There is a variety of activities and functions where help is needed. Who wouldn't want to be a part of this historic event? Check out the links for more information and contact names and number should you, your church, civic group or school wish to be a part of this grand, one of a kind, event!
See, there is always something happening in My Back Yard!.......
