Wake Forest NC Calendar of EventsWow - the temps sure did take a dip in Wake Forest NC this past week!  I wimped and turned the heat on and put the flannels on the bed! 

As for events?  Well, as always residents were still out in full force for all the fun albeit a little more bundled up that usual...... This upsoming week has some great activities in store for just about everyone!  The extremely popular Halloween Spooktacular takes place this week and we have the MOST AMAZING OktoberFest this upcoming weekend - be sure to look for a detailed post about that one!

Halloween Spooktacular
Thursday, Oct. 22; 6:30 pm - 8 pm
Flaherty Park Community Center
Stop by this free event for a hauntingly good time! A wonderful variety of ghostly games and activities, including hay rides, ghoulish face painting, Dracula's haunted maze, and Goblin for apples, will be offered for kids ages 12 & younger. Costumes are optional, but a prize for "best costume" will be awarded. Free pumpkins will be given away while supplies last. (919) 556-4818


St. John's Holiday Harvest
Friday, Oct. 23; 4:30 pm - 7 pm
Saturday, Oct. 24; 9 am - 4 pm
St. John's Episcopal Church, 830 Durham Rd., Wake Forest

Come join us for the first annual St. John's Holiday Harvest for fabulous gift ideas and fun for the whole family. We have over twenty vendors bringing their best jewelry, hair bows, embroidered goods, beauty products, quilts, handbags, candles, and more! There will also be food, fun, music, face painting, and games. This event benefits St. John's Episcopal Church Preschool. Visit www.stjohnsholidayharvest.com for more information!


Wake Forest Farmers' Market
Saturday, Oct. 24; 8 am - Noon
Downtown Wake Forest - Municipal Parking Lot 
The market offers fresh produce, pasture-raised beef, poultry and pork, free-range eggs, fresh and dried herbs, honey, jams and preserves, plus a whole lot more. The Farmers' Market is open from 8 am to Noon every Saturday April through November. www.wakeforestmarket.org 


OktoberFest
Saturday, Oct. 24; Noon - 6 pm
Festival Park, 527 S. White Street, Wake Forest
Join the OktoberFest for a wonderful German celebration and fundraiser for the Graham Johnson Cultural Arts Endowment (www.GJCAE.org)! Admission is free for children 12 and under and only $3 for persons over 12 years old. Entertainment will be provided by Harbour Town Fest Band from Wilmington, NC, who will perform on an outdoor stage from 1 pm until 5 pm. They will lead us through German dances and toasts, while guests enjoy plates of great German food including bratwurst and warm German potato salad which will be for sale, along with beer, to benefit the Endowment. Fun snacks such as caramel apples and German pretzels will also be offered. Free activities for the children include face painting, a culture coloring station, and games and prizes as well as German storytelling by a professional story teller. The event will feature some great German beers and an Oktoberfest microbrew. Come by and meet the Brewmaster! For more information about the event, visit www.festivalpark.org.
