I hope that if you are in Wake Forest you were able to take advantage of the Festival Friday and Wake Forest Coffee Company pairing this last Friday! I was not able to go but could hear the band from my front porch! It sounded like it was a blast!
I apologize for this getting out a day late but work took hold yesterday and I just wasn't able to get the calendar out!
From the Town of Wake Forest Website:
Firing RangeTraining
Monday, August 18 & Tuesday, August 19; 4:00 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.
Police Department Firing Range, behind Flaherty Park Community Center
Residents in the area are advised that the Wake Forest Police Department will conduct firing range training on Monday and Tuesday, August 18-19, from 4:00 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. at the police department firing range, located behind the Flaherty Park Community Center. The firing range is utilized by Wake Forest Police officers who require instruction and practice in order to obtain current certification in the use of firearms. This certification is required in order for the officer to fulfill his duties for the Wake Forest Police Department.
Public Blood Drive
Tuesday, August 19; Noon to 5:00 p.m.
Franklin Academy High School Theater
The American Red Cross has issued an emergency appeal for blood as the Wake, Franklin, and Warren Counties have exceptionally low supplies of blood available for patients in area hospitals, in dialysis treatment, in cancer treatment, or in some other life-threatening condition. PLEASE, if you are 17 or older (with a valid i.d.); are in good health; and weigh 110 pounds or more, schedule an appointment to donate blood at our very own American Red Cross blood drive. By donating a pint of your blood (and less than an hour of your time), you could save as many as three people's lives! There are few ways better than this to make a vital difference to others in our community. Please contact Lisa Bender at BenderL@franklinacademy.org to schedule your appointment! The drive will start at noon on Tuesday, August 19, in our theater and will run until 5 pm. Appointments are made for every quarter hour; four donors can schedule for each time slot. The last appointment of the day will be at 4 pm, so hurry to get your preferred time!
Festival Friday
Friday, August 22; 6:00 p.m.
Festival Park, S. White Street
Festival Friday is scheduled to be held each Friday from June 6 through October 17 on the grounds of Festival Park. In case of rain, the festivities will move indoors. Admission is $3. A portion of the proceeds goes to the Graham Johnson Cultural Arts Endowment. The point of Festival Friday is to provide a venue every Friday night for local teens to gather in a safe, fun environment and encourage local artists to show off their skills. Prizes will be awarded each week to select Festival Friday performers. Area residents are encouraged to bring your lounge chairs, blankets and enjoy. For more information, contact Elizabeth Johnson at ejohnson@medfaxxinc.com.
