Next week is one of the most cherished events in Raleigh during the Holiday Season - the lighting of the Capitol Christmas Tree!!!!  From the lighting of the luminaries to the musical performances don't miss a minute of this Raleigh tradition!  This event is FREE and is sure to please the young and young at heart!

December 5th from 5pm - 7:30pm.  Tree lighting is scheduled for 6:15pm.

15th Annual Craft and Bake Sale

The Craft & Bake Sale is hosted by seminary students, student spouses and faculty. The purpose of this event is to provide an opportunity to host the community on campus and also to support the students who are operating booths. This event is open to the entire community and admission is free.

Wake Forest Presbyterian Church presents the 8th annual "Walk Through Bethlehem" living nativity program. Experience first-hand the Town of Bethlehem on the night of Jesus' birth. The program will run Friday, November 30 from 6 - 8 pm and Saturday and Sunday, December 1 and 2 from 6 - 9 pm. We have made many changes to the set and script. Characters have been added and the animals are back! We have also revised the flow of the program to minimize the long (and often cold) waiting times you may have experienced in the past. This year we will also have an interactive daytime program on Saturday, December 1 from 1 - 4 pm and on Sunday, December 2, from 2 - 4 pm. Visitors will experience the sights, sounds, smells and tastes of first century Bethlehem in the marketplace followed by a guided tour of Bethlehem. All events are free to the public. All profits go to the Media Center to purchase new books and materials. There will be a large selection of books to choose from, and titles not in stock can be ordered. We hope you will be there to help us find permanent, loving, indoor homes for our rescued felines. We are offerning special discounted prices: Teens (5 months to 1 year) $80. Calmer than kittens and ready to warm your home with love, we have some gorgeous boys and girls who want to be your best friend forever. Christmas Concert featuring The Master's Men

Wake Forest Christian Church invites you to a very special Christmas Concert on Sunday, December 2, at 10:30 a.m. with the Master's Men. The Master's Men is a male a cappella ensemble dedicated to providing inspirational music to the glory of God. The group's goal is to spread the message of God's love in song, in ways that will enhance Christian church worship services and other programs. Arrangements include hymns, spirituals, gospel, and other musical styles in four, five, and six part harmony for unaccompanied male voices. Gobbler's Run 5K

Boys & Girls Club, 325 S. Wingate
Chiropractic Partners is sponsoring the 2^nd Annual Gobbler's Run 5K Run/Walk on November 22, 2007 at 8:00am in Wake Forest. With all proceeds benefiting the Boys & Girls Club, the Thanksgiving Day event is a great way to spend time with family while working off that extra helping of stuffing. Last year's inaugural race attracted almost 500 participants and we expect a larger crowd this year. The race starts and ends at the Boys & Girls Club of Wake Forest, looping through the historic residential and business districts. The course is open to runners and walkers of all skill levels. Strollers and dogs are welcome. Registration is $12 in advance; $20 on race day. Children 5 and under are free. Online registration is available. I received my first phone call today from a seller that is contemplating taking their home off the market over the Holidays and re-listing after the New Year.  She asked me what I thought......In addition to what I told her I also have some thought from other agents and thought I would share all of them with you.

• Homes are at their cleanest at this time of year.  With all of the families visiting and festivities around us the homes are decorated beautifully!  Every sense a buyer has is touched in some way from the sights of homes lit up with lights, to the sounds of Holiday music, to the smells of baking cookies and fresh cut pine trees, to the tastes of warm cider and the feel of crisp, clean air.

• Buyers that are intending to relocate to the area are most likely to use this time of year to visit the area and research schools, homes for sale, the city, the amenities and the overall atmosphere.  Why miss that opportunity?

• If other sellers are taking their homes off the market because "it's the thing to do" than that certainly gives you LESS competition!  Take advantage of the situation.

• The holidays are the biggest spending time of the year.  Why miss out on buyers ready to make that purchase?  If you home is previewed during December (early) there is a good chance that you can close by the end of the year.  If closer to Christmas you can look forward to a sale shortly after the New Year.

I don't know about you but I think the Holidays are a great time of the year to try and sell your home.  Sure, there might be slightly less buyers out there but the chances of the ones that ARE out there are serious and have the money is higher.

For those of you sellers out there that are thinking of taking your home off of the market - Talk with your agent first.  If they don't mention the above I hope that you at least think about them.

Wake Forest Community Plan Special Town Meeting

The Town of Wake Forest is hosting a special town meeting on Thursday, November 15 to discuss the Wake Forest Community Plan. The meeting will be held from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. at the Wake Forest Presbyterian Church Christian Life Center, 12605 Capital Blvd. Area residents, property owners, and other interested citizens are encouraged to attend. The November 15 meeting is the second in a series of planned town meetings. The first public meeting was held April 19. During the inaugural session, over 200 Wake Forest citizens voiced nearly 1,000 concerns and ideas for the future of Wake Forest. Since then, consultant Glen Harbeck has worked with the Town Board-appointed Steering Committee to review the ideas in search of common themes. These themes led directly to a new "Vision for Wake Forest." The November 15 meeting will give residents the opportunity to examine the new vision statements and identify actions to make the new vision a reality. The Wake Forest Library will celebrate its 11th "birthday" on November 17 from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the library on Holding Avenue. The Friends of the Wake Forest Library is happy to sponsor the party, which has the theme "Cookin' with Kids." Charles the Chef will be featured and he will offer activities centered around  his new book series entitled Food Adventures with Charles the Chef.  The series is aimed at making kids more aware of the foods they eat. Afterwards, Miss Adrianna Montgomery, this year's Red Robin Restaurant gourmet hamburger recipe contest winner, will talk about how she became interested in cooking and will share her award-winning recipe. The Red Robin is donating copies of a recipe book compiled from recipes submitted by contest entrants. There will be fun activities, door prizes, birthday cake and punch. And, of course, be sure to look for a visit from Bookman. Though the birthday party for the library has a theme aimed at kids, the Friends of the Library would like to acknowledge the voters of the community who are responsible for the passage of a bond issue that means funding for a much-needed expansion to the library.
